Newsweek’s 2010 list of America’s best high schools has been published and this year 4 of Katy’s high schools have made the list. Cinco Ranch, Seven Lakes, Taylor and Katy high schools were 4 of appoximately 1,600 schools in the United States chosen for the Newsweek’s best list. Only 6 percent of all of the schools chosen were public schools, making our Katy schools in an elite category.
Schools were chosen and ranked based on certain tests in comparison to graduating seniors. Cinco Ranch ranked the best of the 4 Katy schools at 478 on the list. Seven Lakes came in at 689, Taylor at 982 and Katy at 1,387 on the list. These same 4 schools also made this list last year as well.
The top rated school in the United States according to the Newsweek’s list is the School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas. The top Houston school to make the list is the Carnegie Vanguard ranked at 29. There were other nearby schools also making the list, as well as 127 total Texas schools making the list.
Congratulations to the district for being recognized and setting the standard so high for our students and faculty. This list represents that hard work does get rewarded.
