The 18th Annual Katy Triathlon, the 3rd largest co-ed triathlon in the state, is slated for Sunday, October 24, from 7:30-11:00 a.m. This USA Triathlon sanctioned race is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Katy and is held on the grounds within and near the residential community of Firethorne. The triathlon consists of a 16-mile bike race, a 3-mile run, and a 500-meter swim in Lake Firethorne.
The race hopes to draw over 1,000 participants this year. The registration fee is $55 per person and $75 per relay team registered through September 1. Registration will continue through October 20. The triathlon website, www.katytriathlon.com, lists the important deadlines and complete list of fees for those interested in participating. The race sponsor, The Rotary Club of Katy, donates the proceeds of this event to the Katy Rotary Fund. This Fund supports local charities in support of their work providing necessary health, educational and recreational services to children in need within Katy ISD.
